OPACI-COAT-300 Graco Cleaning Guide - ICD High Performance Coatings + Chemistries

Steps:

  1. Start by removing the air cap from the spray gun and placing it in a cup of warm water.
  2. Next, remove the suction hose from the coating and drain as much excess coating back into the bucket as possible.
  3. After the excess coating is drained, place the suction hose into a bucket of clean water.
  4. Turn the air pressure completely off from the pump. Begin to flush water through the spray system and into an empty bucket.
  5. Continue flushing the spray pump until it appears mostly water is coming through.
  6. At this stage, remove the suction hose. Scrub and wipe clean. Then place the hose into a bucket of fresh clean water.
  7. Do a final flush through the spray pump. Continue until clean water is running through.
  8. Finally, remove the suction hose from the bucket so that it is drawing air. Pump and flush the remaining water out of the paint line.
  9. Completely turn off the air pressure and fluid pressure to the spray pump. Do not attempt to remove the filter under any pressure
  10. You can additionally turn the valve near the bottom of the filter to release any remaining pressure in the pump.
  11. Remove the filter from the side of the spray pump. Rinse and clean all components in the sink.
  12. Give the filter components a final detail clean using the brush from your cleaning kit or any other suitable soft bristle brush.
  13. After cleaning, screw the filter back onto the pump until it is snug. Do not over tighten.
  14. Remove the spray nozzle from the air cap and give it a detailed brush to remove any residue. A small needle may be useful for cleaning any dried residue out of the tip if necessary.
  15. Finally, remove the fluid filter from the spray gun. Rinse with water and brush clean.
  16. Use the appropriate wrench to tighten the filer back on the gun. Do not over tighten.
  17. Assemble the rest of the gun back together after all cleaning is complete.
  18. Always consult the owner’s manual and the equipment manufacturer for proper cleaning techniques and more information.

ICD formulates and manufactures water-based coatings, resins, and chemicals in the US Pacific Northwest. We believe the world is a better place when innovative, green, sustainable products are specified and utilized. To support this, we offer education that explores why product performance and material selection matter. We are seen as experts in silicone coating technology and provide sustainable solutions where none previously existed. Topics include ultra-low VOC’s, the difference between solvent-based and water-based formulations, how coatings can be developed for improved energy reduction in the fabrication process, how ideal performance characteristics are achieved and more.
